Omni-Terminal noise monitoring systems are designed to provide noise measurement information for seamless integration into Ecotech WinCollect software. This is an ideal medium for basic noise and directivity information and reporting. For detailed views of short term noise and directional information the OmniTerminal
software also interfaces with the remote noise monitor or monitors.
The application provides a user-friendly ‘look and feel’ to view recent noise characteristics. Various parameters can be viewed including Leq and 1/3rd octave band or single octave band levels. Directional information can also be displayed in two formats. These are instantaneous views and statistical views.
Instantaneous View This view allows the operator to specify regions which relate to the geographic location of the noise monitor, and see at a glance where the noise is
‘coming from’ at this moment in time. Alarm levels can also be specified for these regions and a short - term scrolling time history can be viewed of the dominant noise source direction.
Alarm levels, site labels, number of regions and other configuration parameters are completely flexible for each monitor.
Statistical View
This view, called a Sound Rose (similar to a Wind Rose used to describe wind characteristics over time) provides a statistical representation of where the dominant noise source(s) have been originating for an arbitrary period of time.
Current developments include integrating multiple Sound Roses onto a regional map of the area of interest.
