Grimm Dust Monitor
- Simultaneous measurement of particultes at PM10, PM2.5, PM1 and PM coarse fraction
- Particle distribution in more than 30 different size channels
- Based on optical light scattering technology (each particle is sized and counted)
- Utilises advanced low water sensitive laser with a patented light scattering technique for particulate analysis
The Grimm dust monitors are available for different applications as described below:
#190 32 Channel Aerosol Spectrometer
The 32 Channel Aerosol Spectrometer is the most basic Grimm Continuous Ambient Aerosol Spectrometer, able to measure the number of particles and their appropriate size distribution in 31 different channels, ranging from 0.25 to 30µm.
#130 Poly Aromatic Hydrocarbon (PAH) Sensor
This compact #130 PAH sensor can be incorporated into any of the existing dust monitor housings or used together with the portable dust monitor instead of the external filter element. The #130 PAH sensor can be used to measure the concentration of PAH in particulate samples (in ng/m3 or fA) or as a speciation sensor.
#165 HOT SPOT Portable Continous PM monitor
This instrument is available as a mobile hand held unit (#107) or encassed in an outdoor housing allowing it to be used as a semi-permanent PM measurement system (#165).
#265 Semi-Volatile PM monitor / #265TC Continous Thermo Conditioned PM monitor
Uses periodic heating and cooling of sample inlet to determine total PM and dry particulates in order to determine the Semi-volatile content (SVC). The #265TC model uses an integrated thermo conditioner to drive sample air from anywhere up to 300°C allowing a varied look at PM size distribution and the affect of SVC over temperature ranges.
#365 Stainless Steel Version as PM-Station
This version of the dustmonitor has been designed as a rugged, continuous long term particulate monitor. It is designed with a stainless steel enclosure, allowing it to withstand the elements and can be used in outdoor locations for long term studies. This unit also contains a strong air pump for sample extraction which makes this instrument ideal in difficult locations where monitoring stations cannot be positioned.
#565 Environmental Wide Range Aerosol Spectrometer
The #565 model Grimm dust monitor is designed to size distribute particles over 75 different size ranges. The #565 can measure particles above 0.3µm or, when the SMPS technology is used, from 0.005 to 30µm size range. This product is also housed in a stainless steel enclosure as the #365 above.

Grimm Nano Particle Counter
Grimm's Nano Particle Counter range measure nano particles through enlarging them according to the principle of heterogeneous condensation. The ability of condensational growth is determined by the liquid and the temperature of the saturation in the condensation unit. These particle counters measure particles by the principle of light scattering over a wide concentration.
#5.403 Nano Condensation Particle Counter
The GRIMM CPC has a lower detection limit of 4.5 nm, ranging from single particles up to 107 particles per ccm.
#5.404 Portable Nano Particle counter
The portable nano particle counter can measure nano particulates from >20nm over a concentration of 1-2,104 particles per ccm. Two different versions are available: a mobile version as a stand alone system with integrated power supply, liquids and pumps and a stationary version with external, more powerful pumps for continuous measurements.
#5.500 Vienna Type U-DMA (Differential Mobility Analyser)
The DMA is used as an accessory to the nano particulate counters (#5.403 & #5.404) to seperate particulates into size ranges for the purpose of counting or analysing. The DMA can be used for three different size regions Nano (<1-55nm), Medium (5-350nm) or Long (10-1100nm). A seperately available DMA-controller is available for sample air flows 1-5 lpm and sheath air flows 5-20 lpm.
#5.621/#5.521 Neutralisers
The neutraliser is used in conjunction with a DMA to charge particles before they enter the DMA. The #5.621 is used extensively at flows up to 5 lpm whereas the #5.621 is used at flows up to 20 lpm.

Grimm Scanning Mobility Particle Sizer and Electrometer (SMPS + E)
The highly sensitive Grimm SMPS + E has been developed to measure very small particles up to very high concentrations, using a Faraday Cup Electrometer (FCE) which can record nano particles from 1nm to 700nm.

Grimm Filter Efficiency Tester
A valuable tool for testing the efficiency and validity of a filter, the Grimm filter efficiency tester screens particles penetrating a filter and provides an indication as to which size penetrates the most and how penetration changes with changes in air sample.
These tests can be performed on
- Industrial filters,
- General ventilation filters,
- Respiratory protective devices,
- Half mask testing requirements,
- Motor vehicle passenger compartments and many more.
